In this six-week workshop you'll learn to listen for your own voice and nurture it, even if you've never written before. We'll look at why Mary Oliver and Anne Lamott, two very different writers, have connected with women so deeply. Using model poems, prose excerpts, playful writing exercises, and discussion, participants will discover what they want to say and how to say it in a way that is uniquely personal. We'll practice managing internal and external criticism (every writer's — and every woman's — bane), and discover who we're really writing for.

Writing assignments are given on Mondays and due on Thursdays. In between we'll have e-mail discussions, optional reading assignments, and some light critiquing. You don't have to be at your computer at any set time to participate. Deadlines are at midnight in your time zone.

If you have questions or would like to speak to a past participant about the workshop, let me know at molly@mollyfisk.com.

Molly Fisk has the balance between writing and teaching worked out, so that even after many years she still loves to do both. Writers take her classes to learn her secrets to writing more, writing better, and sometimes even getting paid to do it. Her voice is distinctly her own and, with her masterful blend of instinct and methodology, she guides students to their specific, individual voices and personal styles. Molly's a National Endowment for the Arts fellow in poetry and has taught the on-line Poetry Boot Camp since 2001. Read more.
